Porchlight Counseling Services – Lina Flores Wolf

Hello everyone! My name is Lina Flores Wolf and I am a third-year Women Studies Gender Studies and Psychology double major with a minor in Psychology of Crime and Justice here at Loyola. I am a part of some really great groups on campus, including Womxn in Leadership Loyola (WILL) and Challenging Antiquated Norms for Gender Equality (CHANGE), both of which have helped me become more active in the community and learn about advocacy, inclusion, empowerment, etc. Through these organizations, I became passionate about sexual assault advocacy and prevention, and as a result, I decided to apply for an internship at Porchlight Counseling Services. Hello, dear readers! My name is Francesca Marchese González and I am an international student from Guatemala interning at GirlForward this summer! Throughout my time at Loyola, I have been drawn to learning about social justice and leadership. Even though these are concepts that I only learned when I came to Loyola, they have shaped the way I think and see things ever since, thus making me want to join organizations and causes relating to social justice. It was through my campus involvement and some campus resources that I came to find out about GirlForward, a Chicago-based non-profit organization that strives to provide a safe space for refugee and immigrant girls in the area by providing them with the skills and support network needed to succeed in the U.S. school system.
