WSGS Internship Improvement Project – Reagan Bishop

 I decided to do a WSGS internship this summer in order to develop the work I have done in college to work I would be able to do after college. I really wanted to get some hands-on experience before graduating, and knew that I would be able to obtain some of these skills through an internship. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, my internship options were drastically lost and I was really forced to adapt what my summer would look like. However, if COVID-19 has taught us anything (other than how to wash our hands) it is that life is ever changing, and the value of flexibility. This summer I am working with the WSGS Department at Loyola to plan and improve upon our current internship program. We are working together to improve the Sakai site, our internship contact list, and the structure of the course. READ MORE

Loyola Course Builder Project – Inaara Ali

I chose to do a WSGS internship because I wanted to gain real life exposure to what healthcare accessibility looks like in the real world outside of the classroom and actually apply the lens i gained in a medical setting. However, the COVID-19 pandemic raised some challenges on what opportunities were available to us. I am thankful that the WSGS department was able to find me an internship that is a great opportunity for myself to learn more about theory. I am working with professors to create the Sakai sites that will be used in the fall for their WSGS courses. The goals of the internship I set for myself are to learn about the work that goes into building a Sakai site and learn more about feminist theory though another perspective on the same courses I took during my time at Loyola.
